My name is Payton Kornegay and I am a senior recreation, park and tourism sciences major with a minor in art-new media design. I interned with Audience Media Group in the fall of 2018 as a marketing assistant.

Located in College Station, TX, Audience Media is growth consultancy with a specialty in digital marketing. Together our team is composed of strategists, technologists, creatives, and developers. With a focus on entertainment, destination, health, and wellness industries, we partner with some of the biggest destinations and events in Texas to tell their unique "Digital Campfire" story through highly targeted, creative, and mobile campaigns.



As an intern, I was able to learn so many new things throughout the semester. I was able to practice photography, create advertisements using Adobe Suite programs, create social media posts for clients, and so much more.



The interns play an active role in the development and maintenance of our clients and gain hands-on experience with Digital Marketing, Content Creation, Digital Story Telling, Advertising Platforms, Photography, Videography, Website Development, Campaign Creation, Event Strategies, and more. 

You will learn how to reach specific audiences, promote events, and understand social media platforms and the tools used to assess social campaign performance. 


  • Creative individual who is comfortable with both collaboration and self-driven work.

  • Approach work with passion, discipline, and professionalism.

  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Interest in learning new digital marketing skills to grow with changing trends.

  • Familiarity with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to

    Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram.

  • Experience with video-editing or photo-editing software is a plus.

  • Photography experience is a plus.


  • Interns are paid $10/hr and also paid for drive time when working with out of town clients

  • Coffee available in office all day long

  • Work remotely on Mondays and Fridays

  • Travel to new destinations and meet new people

  • Possibility of being hired part time once internship ends


As an intern, you are given the opportunity to learn new skills and improve on existing ones. Interns are hired with the possibility of continuing as part time employees and eventually even full time staff members. Audience Media Group works with many different destination type clients, and you are given the opportunity many times to go out and experience these places. A few I was able to experience are Santa's Wonderland, P-6 Farms, and First Monday Trade Days in Canton, TX. 


  • I have improved my photography skills and am continuing to do so

  • My ability to use Adobe Suite has increased greatly.

  • I fully understand how social media marketing works and how to brand different clients.

  • My confidence in myself and my abilities has improved tremendously. The staff at Audience Media is very welcoming and helps you play to your strengths and improve on your weaknesses.

  • I have learned how to communicate professionally both online and in person.

  • I have happily decided to continue my journey with Audience Media Group as a part time Marketing Assistant in the spring!
